Youth Day at "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk": Together Towards a Bright Future!

День молодежи на «Славянском базаре в Витебске»: вместе в светлое будущее!
Youth Day was held in the city on the Dvina, which traditionally, during the International Arts Festival "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk", brought together the most talented and athletic young men and women from all regions of Belarus.

─ Youth is a time of dreams, hopes, search, striving to act, to surprise the world with the boldest ideas and achievements, ─ noted the Minister of Education of Belarus Igor Karpov, addressing the young people. ─ Everything possible is being done in our country to bring your most cherished and bold dreams and plans to life. You are fortunate to be born and raised in a sovereign state built on the solid foundation of the centuries-old history of the Belarusian people. You are worthy descendants and successors of the glorious traditions of the heroic generation. There is always room for a feat in life, even under a peaceful sky. And today, a feat is to work and create for the benefit of your people. The prosperity and power of the Motherland, its present and future depend on your initiative, purposefulness, professionalism, and responsibility. Youth is the engine of sustainable development of our country. Move only forward!

─ Within the framework of "Slavianski Bazaar", we are holding Youth Day in Vitebsk for the sixteenth time, ─ noted the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev. ─ Talented and energetic young people have truly gathered here, and I hope that next year this event will become even larger in scale, and we will gather young men and women from every district of the region.

─ I am sincerely glad that once the head of our state Alexander Grigorievich Lukashenko supported our initiative ─ to hold Youth Day as part of the official program of "Slavianski Bazaar", ─ said the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the BRSM Dmitry Voronyuk. ─ The current generation is proud of its country, its past, knows how to work, and knows how cool it can be to relax.

Current issues of youth policy were discussed at the open dialogue "Belarus: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow"; similar events will be held in each region of Vitebsk Oblast until August 8 under the general slogan "Preserving – Multiplying!". It reflects the main idea of stable societal development – to value what we have, to know and respect the country's history, to treat achieved results with care, and at the same time to concentrate all efforts on new breakthrough ideas.

More than a hundred young men and women demonstrated an active life stance and a desire to achieve goals in a youth race. They covered a distance of 6.5 km along the route: Pobedy Square – Lenina Street – Frunze Avenue – Smolenskaya Street – Moskovsky Avenue – Pobedy Square. Denis Volyak became the winner. He is originally from Grodno, but is currently serving under contract in the 103rd Separate Vitebsk Guards Airborne Brigade. This is his second victory; he also won gold last year. And again, he received the main prize – a bicycle.

 — Constant training helps me stay in good physical shape: almost two sessions every day, — he said about himself.

At Pobedy Square, each of the regions presented interactive platforms "#BelarusRemembers!", "FOR Belarus!", "#HonorTraditions!", "#LiveBright!", "#BeHealthy!", "#DoGood!", "#BeWithUs!".

The presentation of the joint project of BRSM and Belpochta "Pashtouka.BEL", which popularizes the country's achievements in the format of postcrossing, also took place here. A set consisting of 26 thematic postcards "For Belarus!" was created for postal dispatches, featuring images of architectural structures built and reconstructed under the patronage of the head of state with the participation of student brigade members, as well as photos of the winners of the "Selfie & Photo with Vyshyvanka" contest and participants of the "Belarus – a Brand for Youth" project. Anyone could fill out postcards on the spot and hand them over to a postal worker for further dispatch.

As part of the patriotic event "Belarus Remembers. We Remember Everyone," organized this year by the BRSM, representatives of republican and local authorities, and youth laid flowers at the memorial complex in honor of the Soviet soldiers-liberators, partisans, and underground fighters of the Vitebsk region.

For the first time within the framework of Youth Day, with the support of the KiberRoom club, an open regional esports tournament was held.

Residents and guests of the festival city of Vitebsk had the opportunity to participate in the "Alternative" yard games festival: "Square," "I Know Five Names," "Broken Telephone," "Tag," "Edible-Inedible," "Legs," etc., and visit the thematic youth locations #CreativeYouth and #SportYouth.

Musical hits could be recalled at the "Copy is True" cover festival. For example, the cover band "Egkin Kot" from the Soligorsk district of the Minsk region performed both original compositions and popular songs from the repertoire of Max Korzh and the band "Kino," and the Honored Amateur Collective of Belarus, the instrumental ensemble "Breeze" from the Stolin district of the Brest region, performed hits: "Je taime," "Tuman," "Tantsy na steklakh," "With you," "Ryba moey mechty," "Back in the U.S.S.R," and others.

Minsk graffiti artists Ivan Koltovich and Ilya Truskovsky, authors of the #раЗАм canvas in Minsk, created a new graffiti work in Vitebsk.
