Road safety awareness day to be held in Belarus on July 30
July 29, Minsk /BELTA/. The State Automobile Inspectorate will hold a Unified Road Safety Day on July 30 under the slogan "Slow Down - You Are Expected Home!", the BELTA correspondent was informed at the Main Directorate of the Traffic Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus.
The traffic police intend to once again draw public attention to the problem of speeding. On this day, inspectors will meet with work collectives and hold various events. The traffic police reminded that speeding is one of the main causes of accidents with casualties after drunk driving.
In turn, the capital's traffic police reported that over six months, more than 100 people were injured and 10 died due to exceeding the established speed limit. Half of all fatalities on streets and roads are the result of recklessness, impatience, and haste. "A driver who drives through the city at a speed intended for a highway is a kamikaze," the Minsk traffic police noted. In addition, they endanger innocent people. The State Automobile Inspectorate once again urges all drivers not to rush and not to violate traffic rules. -0-
