The Day of the Union State will be celebrated on October 8 at the "Pearl" children's rehabilitation and health resort center

October 6, Minsk /BELTA/. The "Day of the Union State in 'Zhemchuzhina'," dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the implementation of the Union program for the treatment and rehabilitation of children from the most affected areas of Belarus and Russia by the Chernobyl NPP disaster, will be held at the "Zhemchuzhina" Children's Rehabilitation and Health Resort Center (Vitebsk region) on October 8, the center informed BELTA. For 10 years, the budget of the Union State has been financing measures for the treatment and rehabilitation of children from the areas most affected by the Chernobyl NPP disaster. The "Zhemchuzhina" Children's Rehabilitation and Health Resort Center has been one of the permanent implementers of the Union State program in this regard since 2004. During this time, over 1.8 thousand children have undergone rehabilitation and specialized treatment courses there. The center noted that the Union program for the treatment and rehabilitation of children from the affected areas of Belarus and Russia by the Chernobyl NPP disaster has immense social and educational significance, as it contributes to the formation of a positive attitude among young people towards integration processes within the Union State and the establishment of friendly ties between children from the two countries. Currently, 110 children from three regions of Russia: Bryansk, Kaluga, and Tula, as well as 350 children from the affected areas of the Gomel region, are undergoing treatment and rehabilitation courses at the "Zhemchuzhina" center. Representatives of the Standing Committee of the Union State, administrations of regions of Belarus and Russia, representatives of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Spa Treatment of the Population, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus, and Belarusian and Russian medical and health organizations participating in the implementation of the Union program will take part in the event. During the event, they will meet with the children staying at the health resort, learn about the organization of their recreation and rehabilitation, and also hold a round table to summarize the results of the ten-year implementation of the Union program for the treatment and rehabilitation of children from the most affected areas of Belarus and Russia by the Chernobyl NPP disaster. -0-
