The Day of Sobriety is coming to Vitebsk again

The regional campaign "Fashion Week for Health" will conclude in Vitebsk on March 18 with a Day of Sobriety, the ideological work department of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. On this day, from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., the sale of alcoholic, low-alcohol beverages and beer in retail outlets will be prohibited. It is worth noting that Vitebsk was a pioneer in holding Days of Sobriety. The campaign was first held in the regional center on July 16, 2008, during the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk international arts festival. Since then, Days of Sobriety have been held repeatedly in large and small cities of Belarus, and in the Glubokoye district of the Vitebsk region, a "sobriety zone" has been operating in the village of Mosar since 2009. The week for a healthy lifestyle, which is currently taking place in the Vitebsk region, is designed to draw the public's attention to the fact that lifestyle is a fundamental factor influencing health status and life expectancy. Hotlines with the participation of heads of healthcare institutions and leading specialists are being held in all districts. Consultations with doctors are organized. Educational films are being shown in educational institutions, and informational and educational materials about a healthy lifestyle are being distributed. The Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Healthcare Department emphasized that the educational work among the population will not end with the conclusion of the Fashion Week for Health. "Disease prevention and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle will continue," specialists assured. -0-
