"Living Street Day" will conclude the European Mobility Week in Novopolotsk
"Living Street Day" will conclude the European Mobility Week-2015 in Novopolotsk, as reported by the local city executive committee.
From September 16 to 22, the oil city joined the European Mobility Week. During these days, Novopolotsk will host events, resident surveys, a bike ride, conferences, and other activities aimed at promoting public and alternative modes of transport. A mobile suggestion box for addressing the city's transport problems will be available, and a competition for the most mobile educational institution will be held.
For instance, on September 19, teams of high school students, guided by teachers, will compete in the bike quest "Youth and Time." The participants will travel by bicycle from stage to stage, completing tasks to receive clues about the next game location. On September 21, all cycling enthusiasts are invited at 6:00 PM to Builders' Square, the starting point of the traditional city bike ride. Also, a flash mob by the volunteer project "Zhuravlik" (Crane) will be a highlight of this day, marked on the calendar as the International Day of Peace. Exactly at noon, 55 balloons (the number of years the Peace Fund is celebrating) with attached paper cranes will be released into the sky, thus marking the beginning of the Year of Peace in the Vitebsk region.
Finally, on September 22, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, a celebration called "Living Street Day" will take place on Freedom Square. This event will feature bike competitions, a master class in skillful cycling, a flash mob, and a bike ride by participants of Novopolotsk's young traffic inspectors clubs.
