Deputy mail launched in Polotsk district
November 3, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The deputy mail service has been launched in the Polotsk district, Lyudmila Gavrilova, chairperson of the district council of deputies' standing commission on social sphere issues, social protection of citizens, and youth affairs, told a BELTA correspondent.
Metal boxes have been installed in large villages of four rural councils. They resemble ordinary mailboxes, but are painted white, with "Deputy Mail" written on them in large blue letters. Voters can drop written mandates, wishes, and proposals to their deputy into these boxes.
Once a week, deputies promise to collect mail from their boxes and thoroughly study the received mandates and implement the wishes of their constituents. If the deputy mail service proves effective in solving the problems of ordinary people, then white boxes will appear in all 17 rural councils of the district.
As Lyudmila Gavrilova explained, not all voters can directly contact a deputy due to personal commitments or other reasons. In order to learn about the needs of as many voters as possible, deputies decided to expand communication methods. Along with mailboxes, deputies are opening electronic mailboxes, are always ready to respond by phone, and, of course, constantly hold personal meetings.
According to the interlocutor, a directory with the email addresses of the district council deputies will soon appear in the district. -0-
