Trees in Polotsk will be turned into art objects

About 30 participants of the art project "Ornaments on Trees" will leave their mark in Polotsk.

As reported by the Polotsk District Executive Committee, on August 7, artists will apply decorative compositions to 10 trees. Not only residents of Polotsk, but also representatives from Braslav, Vitebsk, and Nienburg (Germany) will leave their autographs on the trees in Polotsk. They will decorate the plants with ornaments consisting of dots, lines, circles, rhombuses, etc. "According to preliminary calculations, 10 kilograms of garden whitewash and 10 packs of gouache will be required for the artistic work. The trees will be painted with paints that will not harm them," the press service emphasized. Everyone interested will be able to observe the painting process.

The goal of the event is to familiarize viewers with various types of ornaments, introduce them to art, and showcase examples that can be used in practical work by students of art schools, amateur visual artists, as well as artists working in architecture, decorative arts, and other fields. "It is also evident that the new art objects will add a special charm to Polotsk," the district executive committee is convinced.

Ornament is an integral part of art, a artistic reflection of the worldview and culture of many peoples. It is used to decorate almost everything created by humans, whether it be household items or architectural structures. Ornament ranks first in its ability to penetrate into different types of art, acquiring a new meaning previously not associated with it.
