Children's art schools in the Orsha district received new Belarusian-made pianos

Детские школы искусств Оршанского района получили новые пианино белорусского производства
642 pianos are to be supplied to cultural and educational institutions of Belarus in 2019, and 818 in 2020, noted Minister of Culture Yuri Bondar during the solemn handover of seven "Belarus" pianos to the Orsha Children's Art School No. 1.

A total of 13 new instruments were handed over to the children's art schools of the Orsha district, and the city's "Pobeda" Cultural Center and the Orsha centralized library system also received one instrument each.

"Having its own musical instrument production is of great social importance for the country, for the development of national culture and art. There is also economic expediency: pianos of domestic production are much cheaper than foreign counterparts, in particular, their price is half the price of Russian-assembled pianos," the minister emphasized.

The piano manufacturing enterprise, Fortepiano Factory LLC, was established by the order of the head of state last year. In July 2018, the enterprise produced the first instruments under the brand name "Belarus". In 2019, their supply to the country's cultural and educational institutions began. The pianos possess acoustic characteristics that are in no way inferior to foreign brands, and their quality will allow for many years of use.

"I am confident that the use of the 'Belarus' pianos received today in the educational process and creative activities will significantly improve the quality of education, and will provide gifted children with the opportunity to successfully perform at various competitions and festivals, including international ones," said Yuri Bondar. "Gifted people should be known and in demand primarily in their homeland, and for this, the status of cities and villages must be raised, and these settlements must be made centers of cultural events. Who, if not the youth, with their enormous creative and constructive potential, can cope with this task."

Orsha Children's Art School No. 1 is one of the oldest in Belarus. It was founded in 1937. More than 1,000 students study at the educational institution in two areas: musical

(instrumental, choral and popular music departments) and fine arts. 92 teachers work at the school.
