August 7, Minsk / Oksana Shikut - BELTA /. Since the beginning of the year, 9 day care centers for people with disabilities have been opened in Belarus, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection informed BELTA correspondent. In total, as of July 1, 104 such centers were operating in the republic, employing 74 rehabilitation and labor workshops and 502 interest clubs and circles. Day care centers provide all the necessary conditions for the socialization of people with disabilities in society, including sports halls, creative and labor workshops, and kitchens for domestic adaptation classes. Specialists conduct classes to develop skills in behavior, self-control, communication, and the use of technical means of social rehabilitation for people with disabilities. The main goal of such centers is to assist people with disabilities in restoring impaired or lost self-care skills and preparing them for independent living. In addition, for the elderly and people with disabilities who, for various reasons, cannot live independently, round-the-clock care centers operate within territorial social service centers. As of July 1, there were 48 such centers, with the total number of beds increasing by 57 in the first half of the year to 1656 beds. -0-
