March 28, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The director of a Lepel agricultural enterprise illegally obtained service housing. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Olga Gritskevich, prosecutor of the department for supervision of legislation enforcement and legality of legal acts of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office. Abusing his official position, the head instructed the chairman of the trade union committee to make a decision to register himself as needing to improve housing conditions at his place of work. Soon, the desired service house was provided to him. The man knew about the illegality of his actions, as he owned a three-room apartment in Lepel and his wife also owned half of a private house. A criminal case has been initiated against the former head under Part 2 of Article 424 of the Criminal Code of Belarus for abuse of official powers, which resulted in significant harm to the rights and legitimate interests of other citizens. This article provides for up to six years of imprisonment with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions. The illegal decision of the trade union has been canceled by the protest of the prosecutor of Lepel district. -0-
