Director of the Verkhnedvinsk Butter and Cheese Factory Vasily Gubanov: 'Love for the Motherland is not loud words, but real deeds and hard work'

Vasily Gubanov, a delegate of the VI All-Belarusian People's Congress, entered the agricultural sector 25 years ago and rose from mechanic to head of the "Drissensky" farm, well-known in the Vitebsk region. And in March, it will be a year since Vasily Ivanovich took over the district's flagship enterprise, OJSC "Verkhnedvinsk Dairy and Cheese Factory". The enterprise, whose products are known and loved both at home and abroad, is currently the curator of the Verkhnedvinsk Agro-Industrial Association, created by the Presidential Decree "On the Development of the Vitebsk Region's Agro-Industrial Complex".

Vasily Gubanov's area of responsibility is broad: eight agricultural enterprises and the local district agroservice. The structure includes 1600 people, with the average age of employees being 40-50 years old. It is not surprising that he listened with particular attention to the issues raised by the President regarding rural personnel and how to live and develop in the hinterland, taking many notes. The emphasis is on new jobs and youth.

Time to attract personnel

Vasily Ivanovich attended the All-Belarusian People's Congress for the first time. He admits that despite his experience in official events, he was nervous. After all, it was such a responsibility and an honorable mission to represent his region:

— The atmosphere of the national assembly was business-like, and the emotion of the day, in my opinion, was inspiration. The President's vivid speech, which did not shy away from sharp corners, could not leave anyone indifferent. I listened and clearly understood: here are the answers to the questions that concern us. About agriculture and the economy, industry and healthcare, the future of small settlements, and, of course, the future of our country, which now, more than ever, needs unity and harmony of the people.

The delegate believes that the President very correctly highlighted the importance of retaining young personnel in rural areas:

— This is one of the main growth points of the agro-industrial complex. And the northern Vitebsk region, most of whose districts are in the zone of risky farming, has something to offer. From recent good news – an unprecedented decision on additional payments to young specialists in the livestock industry. An extra 1000 rubles to the salary is a considerable amount of money and excellent motivation! A separate discussion is about targeted training., when a future professional can be genuinely interested, as they say, from the outset.

This year, the Verkhnedvinsk Agro-Industrial Association plans to conclude 11 targeted training agreements. They had considered such a step before, and the All-Belarusian Assembly prompted them to take active measures, clarifies Gubanov:

— We will train our own veterinarians, zootechnicians, agronomists, engineers… Care for targeted students also includes additional payments they will receive from us during their studies in secondary vocational and higher education institutions. For example, a future veterinarian can count on a bonus of five base units to their scholarship monthly.

Transformations in the Agro-Industrial Complex

Another relevant topic raised at the assembly is the modernization of the agro-industrial complex. With state support, much is being done in this regard in the Vitebsk region.

— Yes, we have a harder time than, say, the Brest or Grodno regions, — reasons Vasily Gubanov. — The climate factor has not been canceled. Making a profit in such conditions is not an easy task. But if you don't plan anything, don't do anything, what kind of future can we talk about? Do you know the folk wisdom: "Prepare to die, but sow grain"? This is about us, about the fact that the continuation will certainly come, and we need to take care of it now.

The Verkhnedvinsk Agro-Industrial Association understands this perfectly and looks ahead. They have started building new livestock facilities and modernizing existing ones. This will make it possible to increase the herd, thereby increasing the production of milk obtained from their own raw material zone. Plans include the construction of a milking parlor at OJSC "Antonovo-Agro" and the reconstruction of livestock premises at agricultural enterprises "Osvyeysky" and "Drissensky," lists the head of the agro-association:

— If funding allows, we will carry out most of the work this year. We have calculated the benefits: an additional eight tons of milk per day. And for Osvyea, this means the creation of new jobs, and therefore, a contribution to the future of the urban settlement.
