Three residents of Novopolotsk received lengthy prison sentences for revenge against a 'rapist'
February 22, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Three residents of Novopolotsk received long prison sentences for revenge on a "rapist," Dmitry Orekhva, prosecutor of the department for supervision of the legality of court decisions in criminal cases and analysis of judicial practice of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, told a BELTA correspondent.
Once during a friendly feast, a 22-year-old resident of Novopolotsk confessed to her husband that they had a mutual acquaintance had raped her. The anger of the indignant spouse, fueled by alcohol fumes and no less aggressive support from a friend, demanded immediate revenge. Upon arriving at the home of the scoundrel who had violated the honor of a married woman, the men, from the threshold and without further explanation, began to beat him. After inflicting multiple blows with their hands, feet, and a conveniently found stick, as well as burns from a cigarette, the "avengers" got tired and called the offended lady for help. The beating inflicted on the offender seemed insufficient punishment to the girl, and she also added as much as she could to the man who was no longer resisting, and as moral compensation, she took his mobile phone and tape recorder.
The Novopolotsk resident died a few days later in the hospital from the injuries sustained. The accusations of rape brought against him were not confirmed during the investigation, and the avengers who carried out the lynching sat on the defendant's bench. The woman was sentenced to 6 years and 6 months in prison, her husband to 8 years and 3 months, and the family friend to 8 years. The sentence has entered into legal force. -0-
