Dmitry Demidov congratulated the pupils and the staff of the Vitebsk Special Boarding School as part of the "Our Children" campaign.
Numerous patrons arrived with him at the "New Year's Miracles" celebration. Traditionally, they came with gifts and congratulations.
– In these magical pre-holiday days, we must remember that there are children near us who need additional support due to their physical characteristics, financial situation, or difficult life circumstances, – reminded the head of the region's deputy corps. – We came to the boarding school to give such children a festive mood.
Dmitry Demidov noted that there are many caring people in the Vitebsk region – in government bodies, state enterprises, private businesses, and public organizations. They do everything to help children become happier and feel needed.
Currently, 71 students are studying in grades 1-12 at the school, and 25 children attend the preschool department. These are children with hearing impairments from all over the region, and there are children with intellectual disabilities. The children stay at the institution 24/7, except for those living in the regional center. Five are orphans and children left without parental care.
– Our students understand perfectly well that people come to them with good intentions, with gifts, and they are very happy about expressions of care and attention, – said Inessa Gichevskaya, Deputy Director of the boarding school. – We need new interactive equipment for visualization: multi-boards, interactive whiteboards, sound amplification equipment, headphones, and sensory deprivation room supplies. It would be good to replace the beds in the dormitories and update the bedding. And of course, for the children, the holiday means sweet gifts.
Fairy lights on the Christmas tree, Baba Yaga, Snegurochka, Ded Moroz, cheerful round dances, dances, games with guests – all this was part of the performance "New Year's Miracles". The only thing missing was the usual hubbub at such events: the children from this boarding school cannot be called chatterboxes. They shared their emotions with each other in sign language, and their joy was evident in their facial expressions and sparkling eyes.
