Dmitry Pevtsov visited the Vitebsk region as a "winged" diplomat
A memorable "unadvertised meeting" was gifted to the pupils of the "Chaika" health resort in Polotsk district by the famous Russian actor Dmitry Pevtsov, who visited the Pridvinye region as part of the cultural project "Birds Without Borders," aimed at strengthening friendship and developing cultural ties between the peoples of Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine.
The idea of a cross-border air-motor-auto rally belongs to a group of ultralight aviation pilots led by Sergey Karasev, a teacher from Ustyansky municipal district of Arkhangelsk region, head of the paragliding club. Just as birds know no borders, so do the participants of the movement of the same name travel through cities and villages, uniting various manifestations of civil initiative aimed at removing obstacles to free interaction. Since the route coincides with part of the migratory path of birds along key watercourses, the people's diplomats also advocate for international cooperation in the conservation of wetlands.
The project was first implemented last year. With the support of people of goodwill and local authorities, enthusiasts covered almost three thousand kilometers through the adjacent regions of three countries. The hospitality along the entire route inspired them to continue the campaign.
The current "Caravan of Peace" started on July 25 in Moscow. Then the "winged" diplomats visited four regions of Ukraine, crossed the border into the Gomel region, and continued their journey towards the Vitebsk region. The organizer of the cordial meetings in Polotsk was the Department of Education, Sports and Tourism of the district executive committee. After visiting museums and attractions of the ancient city, the guests expressed a desire to visit one of the small settlements and gladly accepted the invitation to go to the village of Bykovshchina, where the "Chaika" children's health resort is located. There, to the delight of the children, the paragliders staged their demonstration flights after the presentation of the "Birds Without Borders" project.
A huge surprise was the meeting with People's Artist of Russia Dmitry Pevtsov, who joined the humanitarian public initiative, taking his eight-year-old son Elisei on the trip. The boy immediately found common ground with his peers: he readily communicated, played, and did pull-ups on the horizontal bar. Dmitry Anatolyevich, in turn, talked about his life, sang songs, gave autographs, and took souvenir photos with everyone who wished. The star's simplicity and openness amazed both children and adults, among whom were true fans of the actor's work.
The guests were impressed not only by the beauty of the picturesque corners of Belarus but also by the hospitality of our people and their proprietorial attitude towards their native land.
