Dmitry Khoma: education must be accessible, high-quality, and effective

Educational institutions must be as comfortable as possible for children, and education itself must be accessible, high-quality, and effective. This is how the head of the education department of the regional executive committee, Dmitry Khoma, defined the main tasks of the education system of the Vitebsk region for the near future during his conversation with journalists at a press conference.

"Accessibility, quality, effectiveness. These words concisely characterize the tasks that we are setting for the leaders of the region's education system today. And first of all, we must reconsider the approaches to the economic efficiency of educational institutions. This concerns the feasibility of operation of certain schools, the opening of specific classes, groups in vocational education institutions, etc. The goal is to bring the education system to a state where all existing institutions are as comfortable as possible for children, have a strong material and technical base, and a highly professional teaching staff," the head of the department emphasized. Developing the topic of equipping schools with modern equipment, Dmitry Khoma noted that under the ministry's program, special equipment for physics classrooms continues to be supplied to the region (this work is nearing completion), and this year deliveries of equipment for chemistry classrooms will begin.

"Closer to November, part of the equipment will already arrive at its destinations. By September 1, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee will present 5 computer classes to urban and rural schools. In October, we expect 10 school buses from the Development Bank of Belarus to organize children's transportation," he said. According to Dmitry Khoma, when the issues with transport are fully resolved, the distribution of saved funds (including through optimization) will be divided equally between capital repairs and the acquisition of teaching aids (computer equipment, special equipment). "All schools must be as comfortable as possible and provide equally high-quality knowledge. And we will work on this," the head of the department emphasized. He noted that the region is fully provided with teaching staff. Due to optimization, 179 teachers have been released, out of

which 177 agreed to employment offered by education departments, two preferred to seek employment independently.
