Vitebsk Region Days in Milan. Enterprises presented themselves at the World Exhibition "EXPO-2015" in Italy
From June 9 to 11, the Vitebsk region Days were held at the national pavilion of the Republic of Belarus at the World Exhibition "EXPO-2015" in Milan (Italy). As part of the event, a presentation of the economic, investment, and industrial potential of the region took place. Visitors to the exhibition learned about the development of the meat and dairy industry and woodworking, projects for the production of telescopic lifts and attachments, the production of non-standard metal structures, as well as the use of water purification and water treatment technologies. In addition, higher educational institutions of the Dvina region demonstrated their potential at the international level. Employees of VSU named after P.M. Masherov, VSTU, and the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine presented their innovative developments in the fields of textile industry, construction, and medicine. Many innovations aroused interest among the business circles of Italy.
The presentation of the tourist potential of the northern region of Belarus included a colorful film about the nature of the Dvina region and its main attractions. Much attention was paid to the training of specialists in the field of tourism at the Vitebsk State University. The university representatives managed not only to fully reveal the essence of the training system but also to share their experience with colleagues from other countries.
Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Oleg Matskevich, visiting the "EXPO-2015" exposition of the Republic of Belarus, specifically noted the original architecture of the national pavilion and its unique, authentic atmosphere.
– Thanks to a platform like the national pavilion of the Republic of Belarus at "EXPO-2015", we have a unique opportunity to present our achievements in the field of food production, as well as the economic, investment, cultural, and tourism potential of Belarus as a whole and its regions in particular, to the world community, – shared Oleg Sergeevich. – This is an excellent opportunity to establish contacts and develop international cooperation with partners from all over the world! It is also pleasant to note that our group "Talaka" is received very warmly by the Italians, and they applaud for a long time, as if renowned masters of the Italian stage were performing before them. This cannot but please and inspires pride for our region, our Motherland. And in general, Belarus's participation in such events, especially the fact that we are represented here by a separate pavilion, is not only an honor for us but also characterizes our country as a modern, open, and dynamically developing state.
Commenting on the Vitebsk Region Days at "EXPO-2015", Oleg Matskevich noted that our delegation presented the humanitarian and industrial spheres of the region, its free economic zone, private and state-owned enterprises.
– Representatives of meat and dairy processing, metalworking, machine-building, furniture and garment manufacturing enterprises visited here, – Oleg Sergeevich clarified. – We held negotiations with our Italian partners and established new contacts. There is significant interest from foreign businesses in our country’s opportunities. Therefore, specific cooperation agreements were reached these days, and now return business visits to Belarus are ahead.
