The Dokshytsy "Festival of Two Rivers" won the hearts of the townspeople with thematic performances, a 10-meter friendship towel, and festivities by the river

Докшицкий «Фестиваль двух рек» покорил сердца горожан тематическими представлениями, 10-метровым рушником дружбы и гуляниями у реки
Artistic ensembles from regions of Belarus, through which the picturesque Berezina and Viliya rivers flow, originating in the Dokshitsy region, took part in the fourth republican "Festival of Two Rivers". Delegations from twin cities – Balvi (Latvia) and Dmitrov (Russia) – were present at the celebration.

According to Vladimir Terentyev, Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, the "Festival of Two Rivers" is the youngest in our country and has great prospects. It provides an opportunity not only to showcase one's skills on stage but also to strengthen the socio-cultural ties of the regions.

This year, as a gift to the city, guests brought embroidered rushnyks (embroidered towels) as a memento of their homeland. They were tied together and brought onto the festive stage. The total length of the rushnyk of friendship and creativity exceeded 10 meters.

The organizers of the event assure that this is not the limit. Next year, the canvas may become almost twice as long, as the number of people wishing to perform in Dokshitsy is growing year by year.

City Celebration

Traditionally, on the eve of the festival, local residents congratulate their hometown on its birthday. This year, Dokshitsy turned 612 years old. Many gifts were prepared for the celebration.

The first of these was a literary and musical presentation of the book "Dokshitskiye Vytoki" by the renowned writer and playwright Fyodor Polochyanin, dedicated to the history of his homeland.

Another pleasant surprise was the exhibition "Dokshitsy District in Miniatures" presented in the city center. On one site, the organizers placed models of majestic churches, monuments from the Great Patriotic War era, and other significant structures.

And specifically for the exhibition of thematic sites "Images of the Beloved Native Land", for example, the bakery workers baked fragrant bread on maple leaves. This unique recipe is over 200 years old. To complete the picture, a wonder-oven was made in the park, and a thematic corner dedicated to the bread-making technology was equipped.

At the farmstead of OJSC "Vetraź Plant", three-meter dandelions made of nails of different sizes "bloomed" for the holiday, and the name of the enterprise was written with them on a plank.

For the historical entourage, the hosts of the farmsteads also used antique clocks, a gramophone, woven blankets, and cross-stitched items. Guests were generously treated to national cuisine. The alley of masters attracted the attention of passers-by.

Another valuable gift, made on the initiative of rural Soviets of Deputies, was an unusual map of the district. It depicts the main attractions of the rural Soviets. By the way, the map indicates the village of Berezki, near which the famous composer Nestor Sokolovsky, who wrote the music for the Belarusian anthem, was born.

The Chairman of the District Executive Committee Oleg Pinchuk thanked the labor collectives, including OJSC "Vetraź Plant", RUP ZhKH "Dokshitsy-kommunalnik", for the successful completion of the tasks set, and for their significant contribution to the socio-economic development of the district.

At the festive program "Small Homeland - Great Love", the residents of Dokshitsy honored the youngest residents of the district center and the oldest residents, jubilarians, and awarded the winners of the competition for the improvement of city streets, parks, and squares. The program continued with a festive fireworks display and the youth project "Dancing City".

Songs and dances by the river

According to Gennady Egorov, Head of the Main Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee, the "Festival of Two Rivers" is special, it is permeated with an atmosphere of sincerity and tranquility. It is a true celebration of friendship, creativity, and inspiration.

Following tradition, the festival opened with a colorful theatrical procession, led by girls dressed as two rivers. Their multi-meter robes were carried by 12 children, symbolizing water droplets. Following a car in the image of a white swan, the participants of the celebration, creative groups of the district, and representatives of the city's enterprises and institutions walked along the main street.

On the bank of the Berezina River, guests were greeted by a beautiful swan maiden. The snow-white bird adorns the holiday logo; a colorful celebration is unthinkable without her. This year, Veronika Krivichanina, a teacher at the Dokshitsy Children's Art School named after N. Sokolovsky, performed as the white-winged swan.

The participants of the festive procession stopped at an intricate arch of love and fidelity, designed in the shape of two swans. Ivan and Valentina Kaminskiy, celebrating their golden wedding anniversary this year, came to congratulate the newlyweds.

On the stage of the summer amphitheater, as part of the concert program "Constellation of Friendship," folk and pop melodies were performed. Among the guests were the dance group "Piesitienis" from the Baltic Municipality of the Republic of Latvia, and the folk studio of decorative and applied arts "Charawnicy" from the Mogilev City Center of Culture and Recreation.

At the same time, on the riverbank, participants of the international plein air painted Dokshitsy landscapes, the "Fair of Family Talents" review competition was held in the park, and thematic sites and trade rows were open.

The festival program continued with the vocalists' competition "Berezina Melodies," a concert by the group "Drozdы," and an open-air disco.
