The Dokshytsy District is a land of vast forests, numerous rivers and lakes, and most importantly, wonderful people

In the embrace of two rivers

Of course, there are many more blue arteries in the Dokshytsy district. But the most famous are the Viliya and Berezina. It is here that they originate, only to later diverge in different directions. One carries its waters to the Baltic Sea, the second to the Black Sea. Such independent behavior of two neighboring rivers is a true natural phenomenon. It is no coincidence that they are even depicted in charming clay jugs on the district's coat of arms, and every August an international festival of the two rivers is held. The first information about Dokshytsy is found in the charter of Grand Duke Vytautas dated 1407. The region has much to attract and enchant tourists: a rich history and beautiful places. And we introduce you to the people who are lucky enough to live and love their native land here and now.

The Tractor Calls

At 27 years old, Viktor Sudnik, a machine operator at OJSC "Dokshitsy Rayagropromservis," is already the "Man of the Year of Vitebsk Region" and one of the best young agricultural workers in the northern region.

Viktor has someone to look up to. His father, Alexander Mikhailovich, has twice received the same honorable title. Sudnik Sr. has been in agriculture for over 30 years and can rest assured: his work is being continued with honor. This applies not only to Viktor but also to his younger brother, 21-year-old Alexander. This year, he joined the dynasty.

…A tractor is briskly moving through the Zolotukha tract. Viktor Sudnik has no time for conversations: recently he was busy with sowing winter crops.

— Such monotonous work must be tiring? — I ask him.

— Not at all, it's interesting! The tractor calls, — Vitya laughs. — What I love about my job is the opportunity to be constantly on the move. Plus, healthy excitement. I wouldn't want to do anything else.

Viktor has been working at Dokshitsy Rayagorservice for eight years. He came to the farm right after the army and stayed. It couldn't have been otherwise, as he was drawn to machinery since childhood. He used to peek into the tractor cabin as a boy. He touched the steering wheel, was keenly interested in how everything worked:

— I must have decided then – I want to be a tractor driver like my dad!

Today, Viktor Sudnik himself has a brand new combine harvester at his disposala combine harvester "Polesie" and a "Belarus" tractor. Of course, with the stars of the front-rank worker on their cabins.

Hardworking Sudniks do not sit idle in their free time either. On 50 ares of land, they grow grain, potatoes, and keep livestock. Not so long ago, Viktor and his wife Natalia moved to Dokshytsy. His wife is a labor teacher at the local school, the head of the family shares:

— Now she is on maternity leave with our daughter Ulyanka, she is only nine months old. Fortunately, we live not in an apartment in the district center, but in a private house. Being a villager by nature, I am only glad about this.

ManageThe head of OJSC "Dokshitsy Rayagropromservice" Andrey Bogovich is pleased with his staff: "We are not deprived of responsible, competent workers, including young people. But Sudniki are true masters, agrarians!"

Scarlet Sails – for Happiness!

They say about the maintenance worker of the Begoml boarding school Tatyana Svirko: she has golden hands. And they are not exaggerating at all.

Eleven years ago, she decided that it was boring to just sit on maternity leave and took up... topiaries. Cute trees made of coffee beans and beads became a good start. Today, Tatyana seems to be able to create beauty out of anything. Proof is abundant in the Dokshitsy district. Bright products have spread not only to friends and acquaintances but, for example, are in the art school and the Begoml museum, and the district House of Culture.

At work, our heroine's talents also came in handy. Tatyana Kazimirovna lovingly painted the corridor walls of the boarding house. From under her light brush, bright flowers "bloomed" on them, and swallows "took flight" upwards...

If you had come a day earlier, you would have managed to see an almost two-meter-tall owl, the interlocutor intrigues. "I just finished it for Polotsk State University. The composition, like many of my crafts, is made of styrofoam. Even the owl's feathers have a subtext – made of oak leaves, and the oak, as you know, is a symbol of wisdom."

By the way, another composition by Tatyana Svirko managed to be at the center of the region's branded two-river festival. We are talking about a huge mute swan, which was carried in a festive procession. A light laminate backing was used for its airy, lifelike plumage. And again, the friendly Svirko family, helping their mother, created this miracle together.

— My husband Alexander, daughters Daria and Polina, and son Dima are my main support, — Tatyana Kazimirovna smiles. — And I draw inspiration from my surroundings. It's in everything. My daughter comes and asks me to come up with a cute gift for a classmate, my son orders a composition for a competition... And in my head, there are immediately dozens of ideas on how to make it unusual and beautiful.

Full-height flowers and ballerinas in tulle tutus, original paintings covered with epoxy resin... The creative village woman has a lot in her collection. There are velvet, rhinestone-studded eggs "à la Fabergé" and even a mini-ship with scarlet sails. Assol's fairy-tale dream was filled with flowers and given to the newlyweds as a wedding gift. Such a present brings happiness, the author does not doubt:
— For me, the simplest, most essential happiness is that everything is well in the family, in my native region, in the country. What tomorrow will be like, depends
only from us. From our strong, honest character, principled position. In this regard, we have someone to look up to with our children: my husband is an employee of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a true rescuer. Awarded the medal "For Impeccable Service" of the III degree. The eldest daughter Daria also wants to help people. And, looking at her father, she made her choice - she entered the Mogilev Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Exotic on the Palm

If fate gives you a lemon, make lemonade out of it. 35-year-old Ivan Shingarev, head of the surgical department of the Dokshitsy Central District Hospital, looks at things positively.

The talented surgeon Ivan Shingarev has Vitebsk roots. He arrived in the cozy district center on assignment with his wife Veronika. She is from Dokshitsy, a nurse-anesthetist by profession. So the Shingarevs are not only a beautiful couple, but also colleagues.

The family was provided with service housing in the district center. First an apartment, and later a house, which Ivan Mikhailovich dreams of privatizing. For medical workers, such an opportunity would be an incentive to stay in the periphery, the doctor believes:

— I was lucky with the competent, cohesive team of the local hospital. As well as with the mentors under whom I did my internship. These are Valery Stepanovich Kopyl from Dokshitsy itself, and Yuri Ivanovich Ratomsky from the regional center.

Why did Shingarev choose medicine at all? His mother Irina Savelyevna always dreamed of it.

— She is no longer with us, but her wish has been fulfilled, — Ivan Mikhailovich shares. — My mother was a teacher by education, and in life, a folk healer, she had an excellent understanding of medicinal herbs. Many neighbors and acquaintances turned to her for advice and help.

And Ivan Shingarev's unusual hobby for a man arose as if by itself. Our hero grows flowers, including exotic ones. About ten years ago, he gave his wife a gardenia. He recalls:

— The care of the tropical guest smoothly fell on my shouldersheal. Further – more. Like any novice florist, at first I didn't know the measure, I filled the entire space in the house with flowers… Now in my green kingdom there are about 150 "chosen" ones, mostly rare plants. Preference is given to very fragrant ones. For example, varietal orchids.

Ivan Shingarev's favorites include the Stanhopea orchid, otherwise known as the "bull's head." It blooms for only three to four days, but it is so fragrant that it is remembered even a year later. There are many stories associated with blooming "wards." For example, about the appearance of the Champaca magnolia in Dokshitsy. These floral beauties, for example, are scattered like pearls across the island of Bali, but for Belarus, they are a complete exotic.

— Twice the flower flew to me from the greenhouses of Thailand, — says Ivan Mikhailovich. — But it only took root on the third attempt. Then I was lucky to find a Champaca closer to home, in Russia, from a passionate flower lover, just like me. It's a pity you came at a time when most of my plants have either finished blooming or are just preparing to bud.

…Dr. Shingarev also furnished the hospital windowsills with greenery. For example, a grafted lemon tree reliably bears fruit. Ivan Mikhailovich looks at the green-yellow harvest with a smile:

— Enough for lemonade. Let's be optimistic!

Three plus two

The bright, cozy home of the Kulinkoviches from Begoml is full of children's laughter. Last winter, the family had a long-awaited addition – three at once!

Veronika Kulinkovich, the mistress of this house, awarded the Order of Motherhood, smiles warmly as she speaks:

— The older sons, 20-year-old Vladislav and 18-year-old Stanislav, have gained sisters and a brother. Alice, Eva, and Maxim are one year and seven months old, and, of course, their birth is the most important event for us during this time. You won't believe it, my husband Alexander met the news about the babies almost with tears in his eyes. His dream came true, he wished for it: "If only triplets."

In the general photo taken by our photojournalist, the mainThe family is absent for a valid reason. The electrician of the "Vetraź" enterprise of the Mogilev Elevator Machine-Building Plant has gone to a session. He is studying заочно at the Vitebsk Technological University to become an energy engineer. He is currently in his third year. Veronika Anatolyevna is proud of her husband:

— A university diploma after 40 years is not easy, but Sasha is trying very hard, and we are keeping our fingers crossed for him.

Unconditional support, sincere trust, and care are the three pillars of this friendly family. With the arrival of three children at once, much has changed in their usual way of life. Three high chairs in the spacious kitchen, a transformer stroller for three, the same number of car seats, which are difficult to fit into a Volkswagen Polo sedan...

We are thinking about a minivan, Veronika shares her plans:

— We really love our hometown, a quiet, cozy town with good infrastructure and stable jobs, but the children are growing up, and we want to be more mobile, and with comfort.

While we are talking, everything is as usual in the children's room. No shouting, crying, or demands to be picked up immediately. Their aunt Irina is looking after her nephews, helping her sister.

Does the heroic mother have enough time and energy for something for herself? If you want to, anything is possible, she says. In season, Veronika grows a whole colorful sea of petunias, and on occasion, she tries to spoil her loved ones with delicious pastries - from aromatic pizza with chebureki to fluffy cupcakes.

Time for Clocks

There is everything in the large collection of Anatoly Kolyada, an electrician of the Dokshitsy District Electric Networks. Old samovars and lamps, record players, TVs and radios, dishes and candlesticks... There are over a hundred clocks with a history alone!

Anatoly Mikhailovich restored his "pioneers" - wall clocks "Mayak" with a chime - 45 years ago. The interest in collecting arose even earlier.

— I've been passionate about something since childhood, — admits the interlocutor. — Matchesold boxes, stamps, antique coins… After school and the Vetrino electrical technicians' college, he took up repairing televisions, radiograms, and clocks. To see and understand how everything works – that’s from my grandfather, who was a woodcarver, a skilled craftsman. I didn’t get to learn from him, but genetics are important. For example, my passion for collecting has been passed on to my 10-year-old grandson Matvey. He’s a great kid! Once he brought me a couple of small televisions from Vitebsk: “The neighbor was taking them to the dump, but I saved them.”

Such an approach to things is, of course, balm to the soul for a collector grandfather. It was in a similar way that the first exhibits appeared in his personal "arsenal." Bit by bit – from abandoned attics, flea markets, from friends and acquaintances – Kolyada collected what today can easily form a real ticking exhibition. In fact, the mansard of his private house is already like a museum. In three rooms under the roof, there is much that will make the hearts of connoisseurs beat faster. Look, French wall clocks Le Roy a Paris, Anatoly Mikhailovich demonstrates:

— A rarity – they are over 90 years old. And these are German Gustav Becker, there are also from the Oryol, Kirov, Moscow factories… Interesting are the bronze pocket watches with Mao Zedong on the lid. Once my brother-in-law brought them from the Middle Kingdom.

Finding gems is becoming more difficult, the interlocutor admits. At the same time, he doesn’t just want to acquire an exclusive item – he wants to breathe new life into it. Restoration can take weeks, but it’s worth it. The craftsman also makes cases for finished mechanisms.

Kolyada has not sold a single item from his impressive collection. Unless he is ready to exchange it for something special. For example, he has long dreamed of an antique gramophone with a horn. In the meantime, he cherishes his unique items: a KVN television from 1954, Russian wood-burning samovars, Singer sewing machines… Among his favorites is a small beach gramophone. The "great-grandfather" of portable Bluetooth speakers is still in working order; they take it with them when the family relaxes outdoors.
