Long-awaited distribution. VGMU students have chosen their first workplaces

Долгожданное распределение. Студенты ВГМУ определились с первыми рабочими местами
The final distribution took place at the Vitebsk State Order of Friendship of Peoples Medical University (VSMU).This year, the university is graduating 581 young specialists, the vast majority of whom are studying at the General Medicine faculty – over 414. Another 115 people are at the Pharmacy faculty, and 52 at the Dentistry faculty. Four individuals are included in the Bank of Gifted Youth.
About 80 people decided to discuss the distribution issue at a state commission meeting with the participation of the Minister of Health, Alexander Khodzhayev. These are young people whose family or other circumstances have recently changed, allowing them to request a different placement.
After six years at the university in Vitebsk, Ulyana and Dmitry Zavyalov will soon move closer to the girl's hometown – the Belarusian capital. She is from Minsk, and he is from Dubrovno. Last autumn, the couple became a young family. They will start their first jobs after graduation at the Minsk Central District Hospital (Borovlyany). This is the decision that the resident anesthesiologists-resuscitators wanted to hear today at the state commission meeting – and it was announced by the head of the Ministry of Health, Alexander Khodzhayev.

"At the preliminary distribution, we were offered a different option, but Alexander Valeryevich Khodzhayev has now changed this decision, as the Minsk Central District Hospital has a greater need and requires two anesthesiologists-resuscitators," explained Ulyana Zavyalova.
Since she is a targeted student, both spouses are being assigned to Ulyana's distribution location. "We are incredibly happy, we wanted this very much, and we went through a lot to achieve this placement," said Dmitry Zavyalov. "The emotions are just overwhelming."

The meeting with the Minister of Health, as VSMU students shared afterwards, was very exciting for everyone. Among those who received a positive response to their request is Maxim Konstantinovich from Minsk. A fifth-year student, he has been working in practical healthcare – in emergency medical services – concurrently with his studies at the university's Dentistry faculty. His experience is eight years.

"There hasn't been a single doctor in my family for generations, going back to my great-great-great-grandfather (I studied the family tree). At one point, I decided that medicine was for me. I couldn't for a long timeto the faculty, and I didn't get into university the first time, so I went to medical college. At that time, I chose "General Medicine," - shared Maxim Konstantinovich. - Later, I decided to choose dentistry, and now I can say that I made the right choice. I evaluate it based on how much practical and theoretical knowledge I gained at the university. I am absolutely satisfied."

He wanted to be assigned as a dental surgeon – and that's what happened. "They approved a position at the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Dental Center. Why did I stay in Vitebsk and not return to Minsk? I actually like it here, Vitebsk is a very good city, and the university welcomed me warmly," - concluded the young man.
The country's medical universities are completing the assignment of graduates for 2024. This time, more than 2.3 thousand highly qualified specialists will arrive at their first jobs.

"Of course, the cohort of graduates that will come this year will improve the staffing situation. We will receive a very good replenishment for our country," - said Olga Kolyupanova, Head of the Main Department of Organizational and Personnel Work and Professional Education of the Ministry of Health. - Our graduates have a good social package: salary, reimbursement for the purchase of household items, provision of rental housing. All these payments are under the special control of the Minister of Health and will be monitored from August 1, when our graduates arrive at their first workplaces and internship positions."

Olga Kolyupanova noted that the assignment process at the Vitebsk Medical University does not differ from the procedure in other universities and is carried out taking into account the needs of each region and industry. Young men and women included in the Talent Bank have preferences and will receive the best positions according to their wishes. Others are assigned based on their form of study: targeted contract, budget, or non-budgetary basis.
