The share of MVT in the housing and communal services system of the Vitebsk region will exceed 67% in 2013
The share of local types of fuel (LTF) in the housing and communal services system of the Vitebsk region will exceed 67% in 2013. These parameters are laid down by the long-term subprogram "Small Energy of Vitebsk Region", as reported to a BELTA correspondent by the energy and fuel department of the regional executive committee.
The subprogram is developed taking into account the requirements of Directive No. 3 "Economy and thrift are the main factors of economic security of the state". It is aimed at reducing the volume of imported energy resources, increasing the production and export of liquefied petroleum gases, and preserving financial resources allocated for energy supply. The subprogram provides for the construction of energy sources in the region using local types of fuel, as well as alternative energy sources.
In the housing and communal services system in 2013, about Br149 billion will be allocated for energy saving. Funds will be invested in converting 11 boiler houses to use local types of fuel with mechanized loading, which will reduce natural gas consumption by 14 million cubic meters per year, and increase the share of LTF use in the fuel balance from 55% at the end of 2012 to 67.8% by the end of 2013. In the agro-industrial complex system, LTF will account for 28% of the total fuel balance in 2013. In general, across the region, LTF will account for at least one-fifth of the boiler and furnace fuel.
In accordance with the subprogram "Small Energy of Vitebsk Region", alternative energy sources will be further developed in the region. Currently, 9 hydroelectric power stations with a total installed capacity of 2.5 MW are producing electricity. The construction of a cascade of four hydroelectric power stations on the Western Dvina River is underway.
Hydrometeorological features of the region allow for the construction of wind power plants. A potential site for the construction of a wind farm with a total capacity of over 1 thousand kW is a location in the Liozno district. The subprogram also reflects a promising direction - the replacement of natural gas with biogas. Such installations can appear near large livestock complexes and landfills for household waste. According to expert forecasts, the use of local types of fuel and energy resources in the production of thermal and electrical energy will allow for the replacement of 88.6 thousand tons of conventional fuel - imported natural gas.
