The share of new products of "Polotsk-Steklovolokno" in January was 17.7%

The share of new products in the total output of OJSC "Polotsk-Steкловолокно" in January 2010 amounted to 17.7% (against a plan of 9%), which in monetary terms is Br3.7 billion. This was reported to BELTA correspondent by Lyudmila Kushchenko, Deputy Chief Engineer for Science and Prospective Development of the enterprise. Today, "Polotsk-Steкловолокно" is developing technologies for the production of structural glass mats, a new roofing material, cotton fabrics for the production of textolite, and silica roving. The production of fiberglass reinforcement for panel house construction, as well as consumer goods, is expanding. In 2009, the enterprise mastered the production of 62 new types of products. These include commodity glass yarns from E-glass, commodity yarns from high-strength VMP glass for special applications, chopped fiber for the production of glass nonwovens and reinforcement of thermoplastics, glass rovings for the reinforcement of polyamides, glass rovings for the reinforcement of thermoplastics, direct rovings of various tex, structural glass fabrics, "Ekoteks" roofing glass fabric, construction glass meshes, as well as fiberglass boats. In particular, more than 220 tons of commodity yarns, about 1.4 thousand tons of chopped fiber, about 600 tons of rovings, about 8 thousand meters of glass fabrics, as well as 128 fiberglass boats were produced. In total, the output volume last year at comparable prices amounted to over Br200 billion, with a growth rate of 81.4% compared to 2008. Profitability was 8.8%. Approximately 85% of OJSC "Polotsk-Steкловолокно" products are exported to 45 countries. The Polotsk "Steкловолокно" plant was founded in 1957. Today, it is an integrated enterprise that combines in a single complex the technological processes of raw material processing, glass melting, glass fiber production and its textile processing, finishing of glass fabrics, and manufacturing of fiberglass. OJSC "Polotsk-Steкловолокно" has mastered the serial production of over 280 product items. The average number of employees is 3895 people. The enterprise maintains a high level of quality in serial production and incorporates modern technologies into new materials. This is confirmed by the certificate of conformity of the quality management system to the international standard DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 for the production of glass fabrics and glass fiber, the environmental certificate of conformity STB ISO 14001-2005, as well as the certificate of conformity of the occupational health and safety management system OHSAS 18001:2007. For achievements in the field of quality, the enterprise has been awarded the laureate prize of the Government of Belarus three times and the prize of the Vitebsk Regional Committee three times. In 2009, OJSC won the laureate prize of the CIS for achievements in the field of quality. -0-
