Early voting starts on March 18

The election campaign for the local Councils of Deputies is approaching the early voting stage, which begins on March 18. Polling stations should already be equipped with stands containing information materials about all candidates for the mandate, and precinct commissions are obliged to inform voters about them. There have been minor changes in the list of candidates, which have had almost no impact on the level of competition.

The district election commission of Smolensk constituency No. 50 for the regional council elections has registered Viktor Zharkov, an unemployed, non-partisan resident of the regional center, as a candidate for deputy. Now, a quartet of contenders has formed in this constituency, including, in addition to the newcomer, pensioner Andrey Andreev (Belarusian Party of Leftists ""Just World""), chief physician of the regional clinical hospital Anatoly Oladko, and deputy director of LLC "Evroukrstroy" Sergey Poluyanov (LDLP).

Sergey Tretyakov, who was running simultaneously for the regional council in Clinical constituency No. 52 and for the Vitebsk city council in Polytechnic constituency No. 17, has been removed from the election marathon due to errors in his income and property declaration.
