Revenues of sports institutions of the Vitebsk region from extra-budgetary sources in 2016 increased by almost a quarter

Revenues of physical culture and sports institutions of the Vitebsk region from extra-budgetary activities increased by almost a quarter last year, as reported by the Department of Sports and Tourism of the regional executive committee.

"It is gratifying to note that the popularity of physical culture and sports is constantly growing, new facilities are being introduced in the region, which allow residents to spend their free time interestingly and for the benefit of their health. According to the results of 2016, the number of people engaged in physical culture and sports in the region reached 260 thousand people, or 22% of the total number of residents. Thus, this important indicator of the state program for the development of physical culture and sports has been successfully fulfilled. In addition, revenues of institutions from extra-budgetary activities are growing. Last year, they amounted to over Br5.48 million, which is 24.3% higher than the 2015 level," noted the head of the department, Vasily Zakharevich.

Last year, over fifty regional competitions were held, as well as many city and district mass sports and entertainment events, intra-industry and inter-industry year-round sports festivals, regional sports festivals for rural workers, etc. The material and technical base was also improved: the FSC "Olimpiec" in Orsha was commissioned; a sports and recreation complex with a stadium in Senno and a swimming pool in Shumilino; a specialized weightlifting hall and a football field with a modern artificial turf in Vitebsk; the first phase of the construction of a cultural and recreational center in Liozno was completed; major repairs of the "Sadko" swimming pool in Novopolotsk were carried out. This year, it is planned to commission the new sports and recreation complex "Yunost" in Ushachi, complete the major repair with modernization of the stadium of the Vitebsk State Technological University and the sports core in Dubrovno, carry out design work for the construction of a specialized trampoline hall in Vitebsk.

Also, in connection with the active development of the workout movement in Vitebsk, work is underway to install sports grounds in the courtyards. In educational institutions of the city in 2016, 53 units of outdoor exercise equipment and gymnastic equipment were purchased and installed. ZhRET purchased 190

of fitness equipment, which will be installed in courtyards in the spring. Similar sites are also appearing in district centers, as well as in small settlements, including under projects of the Red Cross and international technical assistance.
