Drama theaters from Brest and Vitebsk will exchange guest performances

Exchange tours of the Brest Academic Drama Theater and the Yanka Kupala National Academic Theatre of Drama will take place at the end of October, reported Larisa Novitskaya, Deputy General Director for Information and Audience Organization of the Brest Theater.

In Vitebsk, from October 25-27, the Brest company will present four performances, including three recent premieres. Theater art enthusiasts will see the melodrama "Intrigue and Love" by German director Marcel Krones. The comedy "The Merry Widow" staged by the artistic director of the Brest Drama Theater, Honored Artist of Belarus Alexander Kozak, will be shown. The retro-style comedy "The Elder Son" based on the play of the same name by Alexander Vampilov, created by director Timofey Ilyevsky, will not leave the audience indifferent. The theater from the banks of the Bug will also delight children with its creativity, presenting the fairy tale "The Sad King".

"These are the theater's latest works that are of public interest. The artistic council chose the performances based on this principle. We oriented our Vitebsk colleagues towards the same position. Residents of Brest had the opportunity to see high-quality productions in Belarusian, which is a rarity for the Brest stage," noted Larisa Novitskaya.

At the same time, the troupe of the Yanka Kupala National Academic Theatre of Drama will bring three performances to Brest. The program includes the comedies "Doctor of Philosophy" and "Looking for a Tenor," as well as the three-act play "The Curious Mrs. Savage." After the trip to Vitebsk, the Brest Academic Drama Theater will go on tour to the cities of the Brest region. In November, residents of Ivanovo and Baranovichi will see the comedy "The Merry Widow," and in Ivacevichi, Brest actors will show "Bravo, Laurusia."
