The Vitebsk region team took first place in the Belarusian Biathlon Championship among boys and girls

At the Belarusian Biathlon Championship among boys and girls, held at the Raubichi sports complex near Minsk, the Vitebsk region team took first place overall. Athletes from the region won 18 medals (including six gold), with 14 awards belonging to the female athletes.

Daria Kudaeva and Yulia Kovalevskaya distinguished themselves the most, winning three medals each. Daria Zabello and Victoria Shashkova each secured two prizes. As reported by Alexander Zhuravsky, head of the department of the sports and tourism department of the regional executive committee, this traditional competition served as a review of the closest reserve for the Belarusian national team – athletes who are expected to join the national team in 2-3 years.

– Our region's team dominates the national championship annually, – noted the source. – It has been confirmed once again that the Vitebsk region is the main breeding ground for the Belarusian national biathlon team's reserve. However, this time the boys did not perform too successfully. We must admit that our young men are not in leading positions among their peers in Belarus.
