Volunteer squads in the Vitebsk region will be insured
February 4, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The activities of voluntary patrols need to be popularized and encouraged in the Vitebsk region. This was stated today by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, at a coordination meeting on combating crime and corruption in the region, a BELTA correspondent reports.
According to Alexander Kosinets, the contribution of voluntary patrol members to maintaining law and order and preventing offenses is an important support for law enforcement agencies. In addition, their activities contribute to increasing the civic responsibility of the population. "This is a serious resource for combating offenders, which must be used to the maximum. And for this, certain measures must be taken to stimulate the population's interest in the activities of patrol members," said the head of the region.
In this regard, he instructed to consider issues of mandatory personal insurance for voluntary patrol members, strengthening the material base of public law and order posts, as well as creating a regional headquarters for voluntary patrols to coordinate the activities of these formations, generalize and disseminate best practices in their work.
In the Vitebsk region, about 9,000 patrol members assist the police in maintaining law and order. In 2010, with their help, 24 crimes were solved. -0-
