Two renovated sports facilities were opened in Orsha and the agro-town of Babinichi
Construction and installation work on the physical culture and recreation complex in Babinichi began in December 2020. The reconstruction took 8 months - only the metal structures remained from the old complex. All work, including equipment installation, cost Br9 million.
"Our complex offers a wide range of services. There is a gym - large, with modern equipment for all muscle groups. There are also tennis and billiards halls, a sauna for aerobics classes. The sports hall can host football, basketball, handball, and volleyball games. The price list for sports activities here is one of the lowest; it is important for us that the services are accessible to people. Various sections will also operate here: children have already been enrolled in the martial arts group, and we plan to attract the youth team of the mini-football club "Viten" for training so that local children can reach their level," noted Sergey Kolesov, director of the Orsha physical culture and sports club.
The new sports facility has become a great gift for the agro-town with 4.5 thousand residents. During the reconstruction, a cultural and sports center was added to the building for holding mass events. The complex also includes a lift for people with disabilities.
Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko emphasized that the opening of the renovated FOK in Babinichi is a joint effort of republican, regional, and local authorities. "In recent years, significant transformations have taken place in the Orsha district under Decree No. 506 in industry and agriculture, new jobs have been created, wages have increased, a dairy plant has been built, a meat processing plant is under construction, and social facilities have been developed. This is primarily due to the President's attention to the development of the Orsha region; it is his initiative," said the speaker. Vladimir Andreichenko also congratulated the residents on the upcoming October Revolution Day.
Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev noted that the Orsha district must become a leader in sports. Multifunctional complexes for various sports have been created in the region. "Professional athletes, who will make the whole country proud, should emerge from here. Investments in sports facilities have two directions: improving the health of the population and training athletes. In Babinichi, there is everything necessary for the initial stage of athlete development; as their level grows, we will equip the FOK with appropriate equipment," added the governor.
Also today, a sports complex with a stadium was opened after reconstruction in Orsha. New 400m running tracks with jump pits have been laid here, a workout area, a mini-football field, and a field for field hockey have appeared. The complex building houses a sauna, gym and fitness rooms, locker rooms, a medical center, and a billiard room.
The reconstruction of the two sports facilities was carried out in accordance with Decree No. 506 "On the Development of the Orsha District of the Vitebsk Region"
