Two athletes from the Vitebsk region made it into the top best runners in the history of Belarus
The Belarusian Athletics Federation has published a list of the 9 best runners in the history of our country.
All of them are exclusively representatives of the fair sex. Among others, the list includes Alesya Turova from Dubrovno, who set a world record in the 3000m steeplechase at a tournament in Poland in 2002, and four years later she became the strongest at the European Championships.
Unlike her colleague Alina Talay from Orsha, who has ended her sports career, she seems to be at the peak of her sports career. This is confirmed by her bronze medal in the 100m hurdles at the recent World Championships in Beijing. The achievements of our compatriot include 3rd place at the World Indoor Championships, a silver medal at the European Championships, and reaching the semi-finals of the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
