August 27, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Two berry pickers were rescued in the Gorodok district, the Vitebsk regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations informed a BELTA correspondent. Late in the evening on August 25, the operational-duty shift of the Gorodok District Department of Emergency Situations received a report from a 29-year-old man stating that he and his mother, born in 1947, had gone to the forest to pick berries, got lost around 10:00 AM in the area of the village of Verechye, and could not find their way home on their own. Search groups from the Gorodok District Department of Emergency Situations (2 people, 1 unit of equipment) and the Gorodok District Department of Internal Affairs (5 people and 1 unit of equipment) were dispatched to the presumed location of the lost individuals. Search operations were conducted between the villages of Verechye and Zaguzye; communication with the berry pickers was not maintained. The pensioner and her son were found within five hours. Their condition was satisfactory, and they did not require hospitalization. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminded that when going into the forest, it is necessary to take care of your own safety and strictly adhere to the rules of conduct in the forest. For example, you should inform your relatives and friends about your trip in advance, take a charged mobile phone, water, matches, a raincoat, a whistle, and wear a bright jacket when going into the forest. -0-
