A unified database on children in a socially dangerous situation has been created in the Vitebsk region
March 29, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The creation of a unified database has helped to identify an additional 280 children in Vitebsk region who are in a socially dangerous situation. This was announced today at a meeting of the regional coordination council by Tamara Olekhnovich, Deputy Chairperson of the Commission for Juvenile Affairs of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The database includes data provided not only by education departments, district police departments, and commissions for juvenile affairs, but also information received from employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and medical workers who visit families. As Tamara Olekhnovich emphasized, "this data should not be alarming, as our task is to identify all children and help them and their parents."
According to the regional commission, as of March 1, 3398 children in the region were in a socially dangerous situation. Since the entry into force of Decree No. 18 "On Additional Measures for State Protection of Children in Unfavorable Families," 1958 children have been recognized as needing state protection, of whom 60% have returned to their biological families.
The region pays special attention to the prevention of family dysfunction. Along with educators, law enforcement agencies, guardianship and trusteeship authorities, and commissions for juvenile affairs, medical professionals have also become involved in this work. They are the first representatives of state structures to visit families, providing patronage to infants. If instances of dysfunction occur, guardianship and trusteeship authorities and commissions for juvenile affairs become involved in working with the family, explained Tamara Olekhnovich, outlining the prevention scheme currently in place in Vitebsk region. -0-
