Unified Safety Day in Vitebsk: interactive training grounds, theatrical performance

Единый день безопасности в Витебске: интерактивные обучающие площадки, театрализованная постановка
On February 20, the Unified Safety Day in the Vitebsk region, held throughout the country by decision of the Emergency Situations Commission under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, was launched at the Sports Palace of the regional center. A large-scale event was prepared for over 1800 young residents of Vitebsk.

As noted by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, the goal of the Unified Safety Day is to draw the attention of both adults and children to the fact that many situations in life can lead to tragedy. It is important to know how to prevent them. After all, if children suffer, it is grief for parents.

— Dear children, you must be very attentive. Excitement, games, pranks often turn into serious problems, — Nikolai Nikolaevich addressed the young spectators. — Be cheerful and joyful, but disciplined. And if something happens to your friend, you must know how to provide assistance. If you cannot do it yourself, you need to quickly call an ambulance, attract the attention of adults. But you must know how to react correctly to what has happened.

— Such a large-scale event, as today at the Ice Palace, is organized for the first time. Its goal is to develop a culture of life safety in society, — said the head of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Vitebsk region, Sergei Meleshkin. — Similar events will be held in all regions of the area.

— All law enforcement agencies of the region have joined this large-scale project, — added the head of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee, Mikhail Grib. — After all, it is important that each of us knows how to act in various emergency situations.

For the first time within the event, special equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Department of Internal Affairs drove onto the ice arena, where a performance with the symbolic title "No Panic" took place in the spotlight of headlights and flashing beacons, featuring the youth theater "Koleso". The main character was Karabas-Barabas, who experienced a fire, albeit not a real one. During its extinguishment, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and rescue climbers demonstrated their skills, descending onto the ice from under the dome. Our safety depends not only on the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations; it is ensured by a number of other services. Canine handlers and servicemen of the special unit OMON prepared demonstration performances.

Interactive educational platforms on life safety were set up in the palace building by specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, OSVOD, the State Automobile Inspectorate, BRSM, UP "Vitebsk Enterprise of Fire Protection Works", UP "Vitebskoblgaz", the regional organization of the Belarusian Red Cross Society, the 103rd Separate Guards Airborne Brigade, and others. Near the sports complex, everyone could familiarize themselves with special military equipment, vehicles from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the State Automobile Inspectorate, the gas service, and also learn about the equipment used by emergency response units.

We remind you that this year the Unified Safety Day will be held twice: from February 20 to March 1 and from September 1 to 10.
