Effective use of vacant areas must be ensured in the Vitebsk region - A. Kosinets

April 9, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Vitebsk region must ensure the effective use of all vacant areas. This was stated today by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, at the 19th extraordinary session of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies of the 26th convocation, during the consideration of issues related to the lease of state property, according to a BELTA correspondent. As reported by Mikhail Pavlyuchkov, Director of the Vitebsk Regional Territorial State Property Fund "Vitebskoblimushchestvo", as of today, about 3% of property with a total area of 254.6 thousand sq.m. is not used in the region in regional, communal, and city and district ownership, and 3.7% of real estate with an area of 267.8 thousand sq.m. is not used in republican ownership. In total, on the territory of the region, in republican, regional, city, district ownership, and the ownership of consumer cooperation, there are 1726 facilities in the process of liquidation and bankruptcy rehabilitation, for each of which further measures for their effective use have been determined. 94 facilities that were previously sold but have not been used for more than 10 years have also been identified. Regarding the effectiveness of state property use, Mikhail Pavlyuchkov emphasized that not all enterprises treat this issue responsibly. Thus, last month, the "Vitebskoblimushchestvo" fund checked the effectiveness of the use of republican property by the Vityaz TV plant, Monolit, and Evistor enterprises. As an example, Mikhail Pavlyuchkov cited Vityaz, one of whose buildings has not been used for seven years, but the plant administration refused the offer to lease the vacant areas for the implementation of a number of promising projects. The current situation caused complaints from the chairman of the regional executive committee: "Think about it, such areas are standing idle instead of being involved in the economy and generating income. Solve the issue with these facilities with the heads of other interested departments: why has no one started operating the facility sold a decade ago yet. Huge areas were sold for pennies, and investment contracts signed for decades have not been fulfilled." Alexander Kosinets emphasized that he has drawn organizational conclusions for himself. "I strongly urge the heads of city and district executive committees to pay the most principled attention to this issue, to review every free square meter – it must work. If you cannot use it yourself, create a joint venture or lease it out," said the governor, instructing the heads of local authorities to decide what to do with such facilities in each district and put them in order. -0-
