The ecological festival “Cranes and Cranberries of the Myory Region” will be held on September 20
As always, a diverse program has been prepared for the guests of the festival. Exhibitions, contests, and concerts will be held in Miory. Peasant farmsteads will offer cranberry juice, and you can also buy autumn berries here. Every hour, a bus is scheduled to depart from the district center to the "Yelnya" reserve, where those who wish can observe migratory cranes.
The place and time of the festival are not chosen by chance. It is now that the cranberry harvesting season begins, and the Yelnya bog holds the first place in the country for its berry reserves. In addition, during the autumn migration, more than 4,000 cranes and 10,000 geese stop here to rest.
According to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Belarus has about 1.5 million hectares of wetlands. The Yelnya raised bog is a unique massif that is important for preserving the landscape and biological diversity of our country and Europe as a whole. Since 2002, the "Yelnya" reserve has had the status of a wetland of international importance.
