The crew of Minsk resident Yury Grishchenkov won the absolute standings of the Belarus Rally Sprint Cup

September 14, Minsk / Ekaterina Zhilyanina - BELTA /. The crew of Yuri Grishchenkov-Denis Revyako won the Belarusian Rally-Sprint Cup "Lepel-2009" in the absolute standings and in the B-12 class. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Danila Dolmatov, press secretary of the off-road competitions committee of the Belarusian Automobile Federation. The racers from Minsk competed in a Subaru Impreza and, based on the results of four special stages, secured a 1-minute lead. In the B-11 standings, the Lithuanians Vilmantas Pupius and Gediminas Rachas, competing in a Renault Clio, were unmatched. In the B-10 class, Minsk residents Alexey Vashkevich-Oleg Vabishchev, in an Opel Kadett, achieved a confident victory. The Lithuanian-Belarusian team "Rally Team Belsplat" won the team event. A total of 15 crews started the race. Not only Belarusian athletes but also 2 crews from Lithuania took part in the race. They covered a distance of 86 km. However, not all crews managed to reach the finish line. For example, on the second special stage, the Brest crew under the command of Sergey Migel failed to make a turn, and the car crashed into a tree. The Subaru Impreza GT spun and was thrown onto the road by the impact. The car sustained serious damage. Due to this accident, the race had to be suspended: the remaining participants drove the SS in road mode. On the third run, the crew of Pavel Kovalevsky retired due to technical reasons, and on the final SS, Andrey Shashalevich's Toyota Celica overturned. Fortunately, no one was injured in any of these incidents. The rally-sprint was held in Lepel for the first time. The tournament was timed to coincide with the city's anniversary celebration. -0-
