The environmental watch has identified more than 300 violations in the Vitebsk region since the beginning of the year
March 28, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Since the beginning of the year, environmental patrols have identified more than 300 violations of environmental legislation related to land management in the Vitebsk region, the Vitebsk Regional Committee for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection informed a BELTA correspondent.
Specialists from the committee and its structural divisions conduct weekly monitoring of land management activities and inspect the territories of cities and towns, recreation areas, garage and horticultural cooperatives, and mini-landfills. During the inspections, more than 300 violations were recorded, including unsatisfactory maintenance and operation of water intake structures, unauthorized storage of scrap metal, construction and other waste, pollution of adjacent territories with manure runoff, and unsatisfactory condition of territories.
The largest number of violations are identified at agricultural facilities and in populated areas. First of all, this includes improper maintenance by agricultural enterprises of livestock farm and mechanical yard territories, unauthorized disposal of household waste on the lands of rural councils, untimely removal of household waste, and unsatisfactory maintenance of container sites and mini-landfills by housing and communal services. For example, in one agricultural enterprise in the Postavy district alone, five cases of icing and water leakage at water towers were identified, which led to the inefficient use of groundwater. Similar cases were identified in the Miory, Ushachy, Sharkovshchina, and Tolochin districts.
270 offenders have been brought to administrative responsibility for violating environmental legislation and failing to take measures to improve land management. Fines totaling Br39.3 million have been imposed. -0-
