An Environmental Code should be developed in Belarus - V. Andreichenko

September 30, Vitebsk region /Natalia Ilyicheva - BELTA/. Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko considers it advisable to develop an Environmental Code in the future. He stated this today at a seminar of the House of Representatives on the application of legislation on the protection and rational use of fauna and flora, a BELTA correspondent reports. In the speaker's opinion, the Environmental Code will be able to regulate not only environmental problems, but also allow for the adjustment of all laws that in one way or another relate to environmental management. "This is a task for the future, which we must strive for," said Vladimir Andreichenko. He reported that currently, with the participation of deputies, draft laws are being developed on regulating relations in the field of creating a national ecological network, and normalizing anthropogenic impact on natural complexes located in specially protected natural areas. The speaker also considers it necessary to ensure the further development of environmental legislation in accordance with international requirements and the realities of our lives, which will allow for more effective use of the country's unique natural resources. This includes, among other things, the intensive development of agro-ecotourism, and the provision of a wider range of services to both Belarusian citizens and foreigners. According to Vladimir Andreichenko, the proposal of the seminar participants to amend the administrative legislation regarding the confiscation of tools and prohibited means for collecting berries and other wild plants also deserves attention. In this regard, it would be advisable to establish the right of officials of the structures of the republican state-public association "Belarusian Society of Hunters and Fishermen" to draw up protocols on administrative offenses. -0-
