An eco-route of local attractions has been developed in the Sharkovshchyna district
An eco-route featuring local attractions has been developed in the Sharkovshchina district of the Vitebsk region during the Year of Small Motherlands. This was reported by Natalya Oreshkova, chief specialist of the education, sports, and tourism department of the Sharkovshchina District Executive Committee.
The route begins in the agro-town of Germanovichi with a visit to an interactive eco-center located at the local school. Here, guests will be shown how the bogs of the republican landscape reserve "Yelnya" were formed and who inhabits them. This will be followed by a visit to the Yuzef Drozdovich Art and Ethnographic Museum, housed within the 18th-century palace and park ensemble of Count Shyrin, which boasts a recently reconstructed park. The guide will talk about local attractions and introduce the most interesting facts and legends from the history of the count's lineage. At the Potter's House, the only such institution in the Vitebsk region, master Sergey Rymdenok will conduct a master class on the ancient method of pottery making.
The second part of the route involves traversing the new two-kilometer eco-trail "Pryroda Rodnaga Kraiu" (Nature of the Native Land). It starts from the village of Budy on the shore of the local lake Volozhevo and runs along forest paths through various types of ecosystems, including a raised bog. At the beginning of the route, there is a trail map, a bicycle parking area, a large canopy, interactive stands, and benches; the trail is marked with signs. At the end of the walk, tourists can climb an eight-meter observation tower, offering wonderful views of the reserve.
