An experiment with LEDs in two Novolukoml houses will save 2.8 thousand kWh of energy per year
May 16, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. LED lamps will allow the unitary municipal enterprise of housing and communal services "Kommunalnik" of Novolukoml to save almost 2.8 thousand kWh of energy per year on lighting of entrances in two apartment buildings. The results of a pilot project for testing LED lamps in real operating conditions have been summarized in Novolukoml, the director of the UPE of housing and communal services "Kommunalnik" Leonid Polonnik told a BELTA correspondent.
The experiment was conducted with the participation of the Republican Scientific and Production Unitary Enterprise "Center for LED and Optoelectronic Technologies of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus", the Mogilev Open Joint Stock Company "Technopribor" with the support of the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services. Three new five-story residential buildings with four entrances were selected for participation. One of them was equipped with ordinary 40 W incandescent lamps, and the other two with LED lamps from Belarusian manufacturers. All three houses are equipped with automatic control systems - motion sensors, thanks to which the light on the landings is on only when there are people there. During the operation of the lamps, specialists compared their lighting parameters, energy efficiency, operating costs, and reliability.
Residents of the houses where LEDs were installed immediately noted that the new lamps shine much brighter than ordinary 40 W bulbs, and their light is comfortable for the eyes. Specialists had no complaints about the operation of the devices and stated that in April, almost 150 kWh were saved in total in these houses. LED lamps produced by the Center for LED and Optoelectronic Technologies of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus made it possible to reduce electricity consumption by 14 times, and those produced by "Technopribor" - by half.
According to preliminary calculations, the savings from the use of LED lamps in two houses per year will exceed half a million rubles. At the same time, the price of the lamps is quite high: from Br98.9 thousand to Br240 thousand, which is why their payback period will be 12-13 years. However, given the development of production and competition in the market, it will decrease, Leonid Polonnik is confident.
In fulfillment of the provisions of Directive No. 3 "Economy and thrift are the main factors of the state's economic security," the enterprise "Kommunalnik" is actively working on the implementation of energy-saving technologies. Among the first in the Vitebsk region, Novolukoml utility workers equipped apartment buildings with motion sensors. Thanks to this, one house saves 219 kWh of electricity per year. The enterprise has replaced heat exchangers in residential buildings and introduced remote water consumption metering. City streets are illuminated using automatic systems. Thanks to energy-saving measures, in 2010, utility workers saved Br119 million. Additional income is used for current and capital repairs of the housing stock, as well as for further implementation of new energy-efficient technologies.
In the first quarter of 2011, the energy saving indicator at the UPE of housing and communal services "Kommunalnik" was minus 19.6% with a target of minus 12%. -0-
