WHO experts visited three medical facilities in Vitebsk
WHO representatives chose the facilities they wanted to visit themselves. These included the ambulance station, the regional infectious diseases hospital, and the city clinical emergency hospital, whose therapeutic building houses patients with pneumonia and coronavirus infection.
"The experts observed how the staff work, visited the department where contact patients and those with confirmed coronavirus infection are treated. There were no specific comments or complaints, and they received comprehensive answers to all their questions," noted Mikhail Vishnevetsky, head of the main department for healthcare of the regional executive committee, speaking to journalists.
The WHO delegation met with the leadership of the northern region and the Chairman of the Committee for State Control, Leonid Anfimov. The experts communicated with specialists from the Vitebsk Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health and Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of Vitebsk State Medical University Valery Semenov. Under his leadership, a group of researchers developed test systems for detecting COVID-19.
The WHO mission arrived in Belarus on April 7. It will present a preliminary conclusion on the COVID-19 situation in our country on April 11.
