Extreme recreation in a rope park is offered to visitors of the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve

Экстремальный отдых в веревочном парке предлагают посетителям Березинского заповедника

The Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve offers extreme recreation in a rope park, as reported by Sergey Moroz, one of the park's developers and the head of the "Plavno" hotel complex at the reserve.

The new attraction was in test mode on weekends from August 17 of this year, and officially opened on September 1. It now welcomes guests any day of the week by appointment.

"The park is located in a forest area near the "Serguch" hotel complex in the village of Domzheritsy. Anyone interested, primarily those vacationing at the reserve, can walk at a height of 4-6 meters in the treetops along specially equipped suspension bridges, moving walkways, and rope crossings. We have no competitors in the Vitebsk region, so the novelty should be in demand," noted Sergey Moroz.

Adventure seekers can expect a rope course with increasing difficulty levels, including 17 stages of "obstacles." Up to the 10th stage, the course is at a low height. Then, those who are tired or unsure of their abilities can descend by rope using a pulley system. Others will continue to overcome stages of higher difficulty, at the end of which a thrilling almost 40-meter descent awaits them.

According to Sergey Moroz, the attraction has only one restriction: people shorter than 150 cm are not allowed on the course. The rope park will also not operate in bad weather, such as snow or rain. "Before ascending the course, participants must undergo an briefing and a short master class on a training section at a height of 1.5 meters, wearing equipment, safety harnesses, and helmets. Instructors will monitor the safety of tourists and assist them with moving along the ropes throughout the entire route," the source added.

In the first half of the year, the reserve was visited by 16.5 thousand people (12% more than in the 6 months of last year). Among them were 3.6 thousand foreigners, about 70% of whom were Russians. Tourists also included citizens of Great Britain, Switzerland, France, Poland, Germany, and other countries.

The Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve is the oldest among the protected sites that constitute the natural heritage of Belarus. It is part of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves of the UNESCO "Man and the Biosphere" Programme. Its natural complex includes various types of southern taiga forests, swamps, floodplain meadows, lakes, and rivers. Over 2,000 species of plants have been registered in the reserve. The fauna composition includes 56 species of mammals, 230 species of birds, 5 species of reptiles, and 34 species of fish.
