Extreme tourism in abandoned villages has begun to be practiced in the Lepel district
July 22, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. Extreme recreation in abandoned villages has begun to be practiced in the Lepel district, Nona Sevzdyina, director of the Lepel Organizational and Methodological Center and project organizer, told a BELTA correspondent.
The essence of the project with the pastoral title "A House in the Village" is full of the romance of Daniel Defoe's novels and the brutal harshness of the everyday life of the famous reality show "Survivor," adapted to Belarusian realities. The focus is on five young families abandoned in a remote Lepel village, whose only resident is an elderly summer resident who comes for the summer. According to the contest rules, alcohol and smoking are strictly prohibited. Robinsons will only be able to take personal hygiene items, disposable tableware, and items necessary for completing tasks.
Points earned in contests are of paramount importance both for winning overall and for elementary sustenance: they are paid out in "antons" and "ranets" - local currency. Only with this money can participants purchase products from the mobile shop. Prices are set without pity or indulgence. For example, a can of stewed meat will cost 50 antons, a kilogram of sugar and salt costs 30 antons each, a bottle of mineral water, a pack of pasta, or a chocolate bar costs 10 each. Depending on the complexity of the contest, participants can earn a maximum of 10 to 50 points, and accordingly, antons. It is forbidden to treat competing team members with purchased products; only barter is allowed.
The first group of Robinsons will test their strength from July 22 to 24. Over three days, they will have to complete about 10 tasks. One of them is to catch a goose in a large pen and cook lunch from it. The residents of Lepel will have to pluck and gut the bird with their own hands, as well as take care of purchasing other necessary ingredients for cooking the dish from the mobile shop. In their free time from contest tasks, participants will have to improve and restore as much as possible the dilapidated house in which they will live. The organizers will give a separate score for this at the end of the project.
The project results will be summarized on the evening of July 24. The organizers hope that the new and unusual type of recreation will attract extreme tourism enthusiasts and find further development in the region.-0-
