The "Slavic Village" ethno-park will be built in the center of Vitebsk
October 16, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. An ethnographic park "Slavic Village" is planned to be built in the central part of Vitebsk on the bank of the Vitba River, the project initiator, director of Ethnopark LLC, Gennady Muratov, told a BELTA correspondent. A memorandum of intent for the project implementation between the Belarusian company and the city executive committee was signed at a business forum that concluded today in the regional center.
The main idea of the project is the construction of authentic buildings of folk wooden architecture of Belarus and its immediate geographical neighbors - Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia. A total of six houses are planned to be built, which will recreate the traditions of rural family life and the organization of living space. In the center of the "Slavic Village" there will be a well, as a symbol of unity, interpenetration and mutual influence of the cultures of the peoples of these countries. To complement the understanding of folk traditions, taste sensations will help when getting acquainted with national cuisines, dishes from which can be ordered in the "Usadba" restaurant located here. Small souvenir shops are planned to be placed in the houses. At the request of visitors, it is planned to organize tastings of traditional dishes, as well as national-style holidays and ceremonies directly in the houses.
"This will not be a museum; the project is conceived as an attempt to combine museum and educational tasks with tourist goals, to create conditions for active involvement of visitors in traditional folk cultures, and to hold events aimed at reviving rich folk traditions," believes Gennady Muratov. The company has now begun developing the project, the cost of which is estimated at $100,000.
The infrastructure of the ethnopark will include a children's playground with folk attractions, and a confectionery workshop where visitors can grind their own flour and bake a loaf of bread. In addition, the project has great potential for the development of service infrastructure, which is planned to be implemented after the creation of the "Slavic Village".-0-
