The final of the regional competition "Songs of Youth of Our Fathers" starts in Orsha

The final of the Vitebsk regional competition of young performers of patriotic songs "Songs of the Youth of Our Fathers" will start today in Orsha, the head of the youth affairs department of the Orsha City Executive Committee, Oleg Smirnovsky, told a BELTA correspondent. Five vocal groups and 20 performers aged 16 to 31 from Vitebsk, Orsha, Polotsk, Novopolotsk, Vitebsk, Orsha, Polotsk, Gluboksky, Verkhnedvinsky, Gorodoksky, Sennensky and Chashniksky districts will take part in the event. The finalists were determined during the zonal qualifying rounds held in February. In the final, participants will have to perform two compositions popular in the 1930s-1992s, one of which must be of a civic-patriotic theme. Winners will be determined in the nominations "solo vocalist" and "vocal ensemble". In addition, to encourage the most outstanding performers, the jury has established a number of additional prizes for artistry, for the best arrangement, for the creation of the best stage image, for the best performance of a song by Belarusian authors, as well as a prize for audience choice. The concluding gala concert of the competition will be held on March 19 at the Palace of Culture of Railway Workers in Orsha. The event, dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory, is held to support talented young performers, improve their creative skills, and foster patriotic and aesthetic education of the younger generation through the best examples of the song genre of past years. The organizers of the competition are the department for youth affairs and the department of culture of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, the Vitebsk Regional Scientific and Methodological Center for Folk Art, and the Orsha City Executive Committee.-0-
