The final of the republican subject-specific olympiads will be held in the Vitebsk region

The third (regional) stage of the republican subject Olympiad has concluded, with 1022 students participating. 459 of them were awarded diplomas of various categories.

As reported by the education department of the regional executive committee, starting from the first stage, over 41 thousand schoolchildren and students from vocational and secondary specialized institutions of the Vitebsk region participated in the Olympiad movement. The competitions were held in 17 subjects, and this year, for the first time, in Chinese.

According to the results of the regional stage, students from Pervomaysky (103) and Oktyabrsky (86) districts of Vitebsk received the most diplomas. 51 winners are from Novopolotsk and 56 from Polotsk district. The education department also noted the high results of Sennensky, Gluboksky, Chashniksky, Postavsky, and Braslavsky districts. Among educational institutions, Vitebsk gymnasiums No. 1 and 8, and Polotsk gymnasiums No. 1 and 2 traditionally demonstrate the best results.

The fourth (final) stage of the Olympiad will be held from March 23 to 27. Vitebsk will host chemistry and biology experts, while Polotsk will host social studies and history experts.

By the way, last year at the final stage of the Olympiad, the team from our region received 91 diplomas and 15 commendations.

Students showed excellent knowledge of the Belarusian language, winning 13 diplomas out of 16 possible. In addition, 11th-grader Barbara Kuskova from Vitebsk Gymnasium No. 1 (teacher Veronika Laktina) was awarded a bronze medal at the 26th International Olympiad in Informatics held in Taiwan.
