Funding for social programs from the SG budget in 2012 will increase by almost 20%

July 8, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. Funding for social charity programs from the Union State budget in 2012 will increase by almost 20% and will amount to 800-900 million Russian rubles. This was announced, in response to a question from a BELTA correspondent, by State Secretary of the Union State Pavel Borodin during a visit to the Assumption Cathedral in Vitebsk as part of his participation in the events of the XX International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk".

Currently, the Union State is implementing about ten social programs aimed at providing assistance to disadvantaged citizens, Chernobyl victims, the elderly, children, and large families. "About 750 million Russian rubles, or $25 million, are allocated annually for their funding. Next year, the union parliamentarians will have to adopt several more social programs, so the allocations for these purposes will only grow," noted Pavel Borodin.

The State Secretary recalled that the implementation of charitable projects is one of the most important tasks of the Union State. "We are trying to do everything possible for our people, children, all those who need help," he stressed. As an example of one of the many charitable projects, Pavel Borodin cited 25 Russian and 25 Belarusian orphanages that are under the patronage of the Union State. Every year they are provided with assistance in the form of equipment, technology, and furniture. In addition, on July 10, during the Union State Day at the international festival "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk," two buses will be handed over to representatives of the Velikolechanskoye orphanage and the Sennenskaya boarding school.-0-
