The XI inter-branch Spartakiad of the region's trade unions, dedicated to the 73rd anniversary of Victory, has concluded
The Cup of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus for the best organization of physical culture, sports and recreational work for the results of 2017 was awarded to the Vitebsk Regional Trade Union Association. By the way, this award was received for the second time in a row.
Great attention is paid in the country and the region to the development of physical culture and sports, a healthy lifestyle, sports facilities are being built and updated, and the number of participants in mass competitions is growing year by year. Trade unions also contribute to this. One of the confirmations is the inter-branch sports games, which have become a good tradition.
The solemn opening ceremony of the sports games was attended by Vasily Zakharevich, Head of the Department of Sports and Tourism of the Regional Executive Committee, Ivan Vozmitel, Chairman of the VRTA, Master of Sports of International Class in Weightlifting, participant of the XXXI Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, bronze medalist of the European Championship in 2017, multiple champion of Belarus Anastasia Mikhalenko, member of the Belarusian national kickboxing team, bronze medalist of the 2016 World Championship, winner of the 2017 European Cup Evgeny Chervinsky.
The program was enhanced by performances of amateur art groups from the Vitebsk region, UP "Vitebskoblgaz", as well as students of the regional trade union sports club.
The participants of this year's sports games looked up to the winners of the previous one – the teams of the united trade union organization of UP "Vitebskoblgaz", the regional organization of the healthcare workers' trade union, and the trade union of workers of the united district trade union organization of the Vitebsk branch of Belarusian Railway. 18 teams of industry trade unions competed, including workers of the agro-industrial complex, transport and communications, construction and building materials industry, industrial sectors, etc.
A total of nine sports were represented. The strongest team was the regional organization of the healthcare workers' trade union, the second place was taken by its constant rivals from UP "Vitebskoblgaz", and the third place went to the team of the regional organization of the education and science workers' trade union. They were awarded cups and diplomas.
And in a broader sense, as both the organizers of the sports games and the amateur athletes noted, there were no losers here. After all, the main thing is participation in the competitions, the physical recharge of the body that they provide, and, of course, a high spirit and corporate camaraderie.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION "VV": Out of 13 educational and sports institutions of the regional sports club of the FPB, 11 have the status of SDYUSSHOR (Youth Sports School). Under the guidance of over 250 coaches, more than 5.2 thousand students are engaged in 22 sports. More than 170 trainees are included in the national teams of Belarus, who successfully perform at republican and international competitions. Last year, one master of sports of international class, three masters of sports, and over 170 candidates for master of sports and first-category athletes were trained. In international arenas, club athletes won five gold, three silver, and six bronze medals.
