On the preparation of the town for the republican festival-fair «Dazhynki-2014» 50 billion rubles have already been spent. Autumn is still far away, but the work is in full swing, as the plans are truly grand. However, the preparation for the festival concerns the entire Vitebsk region, not a single district should remain aside. The tasks to be solved were discussed at the next meeting of the regional executive committee.

As reported by the Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies Alexander Atyasov, 50 billion rubles were mastered in 2013, as of today, another 435 billion have been allocated from the regional budget, 160 billion from the republican one, there are 200 billion rubles of own funds of enterprises, as well as sponsorship. In total, about 2 trillion rubles are needed. Design and estimate documentation is available for all facilities, financing sources have been identified for almost every one. There is a lot of work, but everything is realistic to complete, believes Alexander Egorovich.

The reconstruction of the House of Culture, the House of Crafts and Folklore, which will gain a second floor, and the “Rodina” cinema has begun. The project for the cinema envisages preserving its signature feature – a mural by Vitebsk artist and war participant Anatoly Kovalev. A sports and recreation complex with a swimming pool is to be created, as well as a ski and roller ski track, which will be built “from scratch” and equipped to world standards. Consequently, it will not only delight local outdoor enthusiasts and guests but also be able to host competitions and training camps for biathletes. In total, the facility with an administrative building, parking, a shooting range, and other structures will cost 127 billion rubles.

The main events of the celebration will take place on the central square. The reconstruction and improvement of the memorial complex “Immortality”, located in the adjacent square, have already begun, with approximately 5 billion rubles allocated. Next to the square, a children's park with attractions will be created.

The reconstruction of 13 trade and public catering facilities is planned. Changes are also expected at the city market. Currently, the following option is proposed: the market will be moved to a renovated premises, thereby creating decent conditions for sellers and buyers. However, the final decision will be made after discussion with entrepreneurs. Measures are envisaged to improve the production of OJSC “Ptitsфабрика Gorodok”, IE “Detskoselsky-Gorodok”, and other enterprises.

The flood plain of the Gorozhanka River, 65 streets, and courtyards will be improved, and 82 houses will undergo major repairs (thermal renovation of five of them has already begun). It is also planned to equip storm sewers and illumination, reconstruct utility networks and power transmission lines, and renovate administrative buildings of the ROChS, RUES, Raygaz, and others.

The bus station and, of course, the roads need to be put in order. An additional 30 billion rubles from transport tax payments will be allocated for road surface repairs. It is necessary to bring 10 thousand hectares of abandoned land into circulation in the district, demolish structures that cannot be restored, take care of roadside strips and fields, forest areas, and the cleanliness of lakes. In addition, it is necessary to improve the roads along which the festival participants will travel to the capital for "Dazhynki-2014", and to ensure that they are met by high-quality and comfortable roadside service facilities. This primarily concerns the Orsha, Tolochin, Shumilino, and Beshenkovichi districts. Guests will also be received in Vitebsk and the Vitebsk region, so maximum effort should be directed here as well to prepare accommodation, catering, and tourism facilities.

– This is an exam for the entire region, we must look decent. It is necessary for the Vitebsk region to approach the holiday with high economic indicators, and there is a lot of work to be done, – emphasized the First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Vladimir Novatsky. – "Dazhynki" is a way to look at ourselves from the outside, to understand what we need to strive for. All this is done not for one day, but so that Gorodok can continue to develop dynamically, earn from services, create new industries, attract guests, and so that the Vitebsk region has a decent "gateway".
