FC Vitebsk has earned the right to play in the top league
Having drawn 1:1 in the return away match against "Dnepr" Mogilev, the footballers of "Vitebsk" have earned the right to play in the top league of the national championship next season. After a 2:0 home victory, "Vitebsk" had a tangible margin of safety, while the hosts had to go all-in. It is worth noting that despite the fact that admission to the Mogilev stadium "Spartak" was free on Saturday, and hot tea was offered to fans, only about a thousand spectators gathered in the stands. And a significant part of them were fans of "Vitebsk" who arrived from the banks of the Dvina.
As in the first game, the main events on the field occurred closer to the final whistle. First, taking advantage of a mistake by our defender, the Mogilev forward opened the scoring against Yuri Vasyutin's goal, and two minutes before the end of the match, "Vitebsk" restored the balance of the score. It is symbolic that, as three days earlier, the last word remained with our veteran Andrey Barankov, who played in the top division for more than one season. "Vitebsk" will worthily represent our regional center at competitions of the highest level. After the match, the commander-in-chief of Vitebsk, Sergey Vekhtev, noted the painstaking work of the city and regional authorities, who are interested in "Vitebsk" reviving its traditions in the top league.
