A fountain, a newlyweds' alley, and a boulevard of lanterns have appeared in Tolochin. As reported by the Tolochin District Executive Committee, the construction of new facilities is part of a comprehensive reconstruction and modernization program that was carried out in the city in preparation for the regional festival-fair of agricultural workers "Dazhynki".
The city center has been completely renovated: the central square and the city park have been reconstructed. "The square is paved with three-color tiles, a traffic light has been installed at the intersection of the city's central streets, and a boulevard of lanterns has been laid out along Lenin Street. This is a gift to the citizens from the district's enterprises – each of the 16 decorative lanterns has a plaque with the name of the organization that participated in the creation of the boulevard," explained the district executive committee. The city park has been transformed into a modern recreation area. Trees and flowers have been planted here, paths have been laid, children's and concert areas have been equipped, the Alley of Glory with portraits of prominent countrymen has been updated, a fountain and a complex for lovers have appeared.
"For example, the newlyweds' alley includes a wrought-iron gazebo in the shape of a carriage and a lovers' bench, an arch in the shape of two halves of a heart, and a decorative love bridge where newlyweds can attach their padlock," the district executive committee said. In general, about 100 facilities have been repaired and reconstructed for the holiday in the city, including the Central District Hospital, the House of Culture (now the Center of Culture), a restaurant, a library, schools, and kindergartens. More than 20 residential buildings have been capital repaired, courtyards have been improved, children's playground equipment has been installed, streets have been asphalted, and the facades of institutions and organizations have been put in order.
The financing of the works was carried out from various sources: funds were allocated from the republican, regional, and local budgets, and enterprises and organizations of the district provided significant assistance. The district executive committee emphasized that the city has been transformed beyond recognition, has become more beautiful, more comfortable for living, and more interesting for tourists. The first guests of the updated Tolochin on October 3 will be the best grain growers of the region, as well as guests and participants of the regional festival-fair of rural workers "Dazhynki".
