The professional skills of a photojournalist from the newspaper "Vitebskiye Vesti" helped the police apprehend thieves red-handed. Photojournalist Dmitry Osipov was invited to the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee to receive a certificate of achievement as the winner of the traditional "Civil Courage-2013" campaign.

The campaign, during which law enforcement officers honor citizens who have contributed to solving a crime, has been held for six years. Annually, about fifty people become its participants. These include schoolchildren, students, workers, salespeople, and pensioners. According to the police, a journalist has appeared among them for the first time.

Here is what Dmitry says about his principled action:

- On a summer evening, I went out onto the balcony for some fresh air. I noticed two guys hanging around a car in the courtyard. I suspected something was wrong and went to get my camera. It turned out to be for a good reason. I took pictures of the young men removing the battery from the car. The photographs, handed over to the arriving operatives, helped identify and apprehend the thieves the same day.

Osipov's photos were also published in "SB". His photo reports on the life of the army and law enforcement agencies are regularly printed by the magazine "Spetsnaz". As for his victory in the campaign, our colleague takes it calmly. The main thing, he believes, is an active life position. And indifference. By the way, this was the name of the nomination "Civil Courage" in which he won.
